Wardogs Outguns FC 27 to Top Newzoo's September PC Charts
Bulkhead's Early Access shooter Wardogs beat EA Sports FC 27 to top Newzoo's September PC revenue chart in three weeks, while Remedy's self-published Control Resonant passed one million units.

Patch notes
Wardogs topped Newzoo's September PC revenue chart within three weeks of Early Access launch.
Control Resonant, Remedy's first self-published game, sold over one million units in its launch month.
Bodycam climbed 20 places to No.6 in PC revenue; DressMaker jumped 4,698 places to No.20.
Marvel's Wolverine hit No.4 in console revenue — Sony's best monthly dollar sales since Helldivers 2, per Circana.
Bulkhead's Wardogs, a first-person shooter still in Early Access, outsold EA Sports FC 27 to take No.1 on Newzoo's September PC revenue chart — and it did so within three weeks of launch. The title also landed at No.11 on the PC monthly active user chart for the same period.
The data, shared exclusively with GamesIndustry.biz, covers PC and console revenue across the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy for September.
What did the new releases manage?
Four September launches cracked Newzoo's Top 20 year-to-date games spend chart. Wardogs sits at No.15 and Marvel's Wolverine at No.16, while EA Sports FC 27 and NBA 2K27 hold the top two spots overall.
Marvel's Wolverine took No.4 on the console revenue chart after leading US September sales. According to Circana, it posted the highest monthly dollar sales for a Sony-published title since Helldivers 2.
Halloween: The Game and The Blood of the Dawnwalker both reached the Top 10 for revenue on PC and console, a solid double showing for two new names.
Which older games moved?
Early Access shooter Bodycam climbed 20 places to No.6 in PC revenue after a major update paired with a discount. Textbook discount-driven lift.
The stranger mover is DressMaker, which surged 4,698 places to No.20. The Cozy Games title started on itch.io in 2025 and expanded into a full game on September 21. Four thousand places in a month is not a trend. It is a reminder that Steam's charts reward the right moment as much as the right game.
Remedy's Control Resonant debuted at No.18 on PC and one spot higher, No.17, on console. As Remedy's first self-published title, Resonant has already become the studio's fastest-selling game, passing one million units in its launch month. For a publisher striking out alone, that's the number that matters.
The incumbent layer held its usual ground: Fortnite, Valorant, World of Warcraft and League of Legends all stayed in the PC top seven, with Overwatch at No.10 and Counter-Strike 2 at No.11.
What is the analyst read?
Newzoo market analyst Mert Şahin framed the month as pre-positioning. "September's rankings show a market releasing many of its biggest titles before GTA 6 arrives," he said.
"New releases claimed the top of the revenue charts, and mid-priced hits such as Wardogs showed that games don't need a full price tag to compete. But engagement gains came largely from familiar games, with a 1.0 release, seasonal updates, discounts and subscription additions all appearing to bring players back."
His verdict on the calendar was blunter. "Viewed together, the rankings suggest that a crowded calendar makes it harder to stand out. In the months ahead, getting the price right, choosing the right moment to launch, and giving existing players a reason to return may matter just as much as a high-profile release."
Wardogs proves his pricing point: a mid-priced Early Access shooter beat the annualized might of FC 27 on revenue, not just engagement. Bodycam and DressMaker prove the timing point.
GamesIndustry.biz recently examined the Early Access experiences of the studios behind Valheim, Subnautica, Hades, Phasmophobia, Paralives and Deadhaus Sonata.
