Patch notes

  • Ranked unlock requirement rises from 1,000 to 5,000 Trophies in the November update.

  • Season 56: Brawl Vice launched November 5th after a November 3rd maintenance break.

  • Three new Brawlers arrive: Legendary Thunder Frogs and Mythic duo Rey and Ruby.

  • Diamond rank requirement increases from nine to 12 Brawlers; every rank needs Power 11.

  • Pro Pass shortens to three months before switching to a monthly format.

Supercell has raised the Ranked unlock requirement in Brawl Stars from 1,000 to 5,000 Trophies, shipping the change alongside Season 56: Brawl Vice — a Vice City-flavored season that launched November 5th after a maintenance break on November 3rd.

The number matters more than the neon. A 5x increase in the Ranked entry gate, paired with a new Power 11 requirement for Brawlers at every rank, signals Supercell is deliberately narrowing competitive access to its most invested players.

What's in Brawl Vice?

The season takes its aesthetic cues from GTA VI — the title alone does the winking — and delivers a slate of themed skins:

  • Brawl Vice Bull
  • Crime Pays Poco
  • Undercover Buzz
  • Undercover Pierce
  • Black Market Barley
  • City Streets Bull, City Days Emz and City Nights Emz

Three new Brawlers join the roster. Thunder Frogs is a Legendary artillery character, while Rey and Ruby arrive as Mythic Brawlers with abilities built to work in tandem — a paired release, which is a design choice worth noting for meta-watchers.

How does Ranked change?

The overhaul touches three gates at once. Ranked now unlocks at 5,000 Trophies instead of 1,000. Every rank requires Power 11 Brawlers. And the Diamond rank requirement climbs from nine Brawlers to 12.

For mid-core players, that's a meaningful grind extension before Ranked play even begins. For Supercell, it likely concentrates the competitive ladder among high-retention users — the cohort most likely to convert on progression monetization.

What else moved in the November update?

The update adds new Hypercharges and Buffies for several existing Brawlers. The next Pro Pass season will run three months before Supercell shifts the pass to a monthly format — a cadence change that aligns Brawl Stars with the release rhythm common in mobile's top-grossing live-service titles.

A pattern of brand play

Brawl Vice fits Supercell's established playbook of pairing Brawl Stars with entertainment brands. Past collaborations include crossovers with Subway Surfers and a character launch with Taika Waititi. The studio partnered with Adidas earlier this year, and in September it teamed with Duolingo for a mascot crossover featuring Spike and Duo.

This season skews homage rather than official crossover — "Brawl Vice" borrows the GTA vibe without a Rockstar partnership attached. Whether an unlicensed aesthetic riff becomes a recurring strategy or stays a one-off is an open question.

The ranked overhaul lands immediately, so the real signal to watch is the coming weeks' retention data: whether the 5,000-Trophy wall filters the ladder as intended or simply sheds the mid-core players Supercell needs to keep.
