Bengaluru-based mobile games studio Spill Games has raised $10.5 million in Series A funding, with Elevation Capital leading the round and existing investors Centre Court Capital and PeerCapital participating.
The company will spend the money on expanding its game portfolio, scaling existing titles and investing in user acquisition (paid installs that drive player growth). Plans also cover team expansion and deeper development of AI and other technical capabilities.
Who is behind Spill Games?
Former PlaySimple Games executives Om Misra, Tapan Ranjan and Harsh Garg founded the studio in 2024. Misra serves as CEO. Their stated model: keep the team small, move fast, experiment freely.
"We build what excites us, put it in front of players quickly and let their response guide us. When players love something as much as we do, that is when we scale it," Misra said.
That's a data-driven hit-testing approach rather than a slate-driven one. Games ship early, live or die on player response, and only proven performers get scaled with UA dollars.
What has the studio shipped?
Spill Games focuses on free-to-play mobile titles in casual and hybridcasual genres (hybridcasual blends simple core gameplay with mid-core retention and monetisation mechanics). Released games include:
- Grill Master
- Bird Rescue Jam
- Cozy Finds
- Cozy Crossword
Team members bring prior experience across Zynga, Tencent and Tiny Tactics projects. The studio has rolled out multiple games within two years of founding — a pace it attributes partly to Compass, its in-house platform supporting development, monetisation and live ops (ongoing post-launch content and event management).
What does this change for the business?
The funding gives Spill Games runway to compete in casual and hybridcasual, where UA costs reward studios that can iterate quickly and kill underperformers early. Compass, meanwhile, is the operational asset worth watching: an internal stack covering development through monetisation and live ops reduces per-title overhead and shortens the test-and-scale cycle the founders describe.
For investors, the round signals continued appetite for PlaySimple-adjacent talent. PlaySimple, the word-game studio acquired by Modern Times Group, produced a generation of Indian mobile operators now building their own companies — Elevation Capital's lead here doubles down on that lineage.
The casual market remains crowded, and $10.5 million buys scale, not certainty. Watch whether Spill Games converts the raise into a breakout title over the next 12 months — its stated kill-or-scale cadence should make that visible quickly.
