Patch notes

  • Clash of Critters has earned $53.8m in player spending since its May 21st, 2026 Western launch.

  • Daily revenue peaked at $678,000 on October 9th, after first passing $500k per day in September.

  • The US accounts for 30% of spending ($16.3m); China has quickly reached 11%.

  • App Store spending of $30.6m represents 59% of the two-store total; Google Play has $21.4m.

  • Figures exclude web shop and ad revenue; Ignis Gems sell at a discount on the web shop.

Lilith Games' creature collector Clash of Critters has surpassed $50 million in gross player spending across Google Play and the App Store in under five months, with lifetime revenue now standing at $53.8m.

According to AppMagic data, the title crossed the milestone less than five months after its Western launch on May 21st, 2026. And the real figure is likely higher: the numbers exclude web shop purchases and ad revenue.

What's driving the acceleration?

Momentum built sharply in September, when daily earnings passed $500,000 for the first time. The game set a daily spending record of $638,000 on September 12th. That mark didn't last — October 9th brought a new record of $678,000.

The month-by-month curve tells the operational story:

  • Month one: $7.7m across markets
  • Month two: $7.5m, a slight dip
  • Month three: recovery, coinciding with the Japan launch in July
  • Month four: $14.6m — the first eight-figure month, nearly double launch revenue
  • Month five (incomplete): $13.3m

Gradual geographic rollout has been central to the model. Clash of Critters arrived in key market Japan in July, and player spending from Lilith's home country of China has quickly climbed to 11% of the total. The US remains the biggest market at 30%, equating to $16.3m since release.

Platform split leans iOS. App Store players have spent $30.6m, or 59% of the two-store total, against $21.4m on Google Play.

The web shop caveat

The storefront figures don't capture everything. Premium currency Ignis Gems sell at a discount on the game's web shop, likely shifting some players away from the traditional 30%-cut storefronts. That means gross earnings are almost certainly above the reported $53.8m — a pattern familiar across the mobile sector as publishers push direct-to-consumer channels.

The AFK Journey playbook

Lilith is running a rollout format it has used before. Its 2024 title AFK Journey first released in the West, then surged in popularity after a China launch some months later. Clash of Critters is following the same West-first, China-later sequence, and China's fast 11% contribution suggests the second act is working again.

On the product side, the game has players collect creatures called Tataris — more than 100 varieties across elements like grass and water, each with individual battle stats and evolution into stronger forms. The loop combines idle progression with tower defence combat.

What does this change for mobile studios? It reinforces staged-market rollout plus a discounted web shop as a viable monetization stack for mid-core collectors — and puts a number on it: eight-figure months by month four.

Watch whether month five closes above $14.6m and whether China's contribution keeps climbing — both will signal if Clash of Critters can match AFK Journey's post-China trajectory.
